Hi
I have a 1973 Sleekcraft that I have restored and refinished. I am trying to add to the bow a picture of the hulk. Since I am not the artist, and don't want to spend a fortune, I was wondering if there is a trick to get the thing to lay down.
I took a poster, freyed the edges, and used urethane to lay it down with, It looked great and held fine a week. Then I added two coats over the entire bow to even it out and it came out great. But for some reason, after setting, it wants to come loose at the edges, even with the helmsman urethane coating on it 3 layers thick. I allowed plenty of drying time between coats.
Is there a special glue I need to paste the picture on before I put the final coats on?
I'm not wanting to abandon this and just refinish, but I will if I have to. The rest of the boat looks great and no problems. Just can't get this thing to stay down.
Appreciate the help.
D.
chngingtymes@kc.rr.com

Re: Adding picture or sticker

If you have the image electronically you can get your local sign shop to print it on 3M marine vinyl made for what you want for like $20

You can also try one of the 100 people on eBay that do it via mail - just contact them, tell them what you want and email them the image.

I Did a custom name and graphic for my boat and had two big decals made for the sides and beaucse I did the graphic it only cost like $40 at my local sign shop.

I hear ya Unicorn, it costs me $20.00 just to have green (matching colors) license numbers made for my boat. I know Spencer's idea will work and can be done, but it would costs me a whole lot more than that! I like the Hulk, let me know how it comes out! GodsBeast
