1974 115HP Johnson 115ESL74 ...... I'm thinking of adding power T/T to this motor over the winter. Would like to find a parts motor at a reasonable price to use the T/T unit from and have other parts in case I need them in the future.

From what I have read on here power T/T wasn't available in 1974. Does anybody know the first year factory power T/T was used on a 115HP or similar?

I think I even read that by the time it did come factory equipped, it might not fit my motor. I may have to look into trying to fit a later model T/T to my motor. Or I've even seen the CMC (I think that's it) units but from the prices I've seen, I think my best bet would to look for a parts motor that has power T/T that will fit or can be adapted.

Thanks for any information anyone can give me on this.

The factory installed optional units were introduced in 1975.

The kits that fitted the V4 midsections from 1973 through 1976 and the 85HP and 115HP 20 inch midsections for 1977 were basically the same as the factory installed units. Many 1973 and 1974 motors were fitted with the PT&T kits.

If you find a motor with the PT&T, try to find one with a Prestolite pump rather than the Calco pump.

You need a complete unit from '72-'77 (could be wrong on the 72, it may be 73). It will be one that has the rams outboard of the mounting bracket. As a former owner of a '73 Johnson 85 that I desperately wanted to add TnT too.....I wish you luck, you're gonna need it. The newer units won't work.

Thanks to both of you EZ's for the replies. I will never cease to be amazed at the amount of reliable FREE information that can be found on this site.....and answered within 14 minutes of asking!!!!!

I guess I will be looking for a 73-77 with power T/T I can use. I guess I would probably buy a 72 if the price was right but with a 72 I couldn't just swap the L/U if I needed one.

Any other major things that won't swap from a 73 or 75-77 that anybody knows of? Did they use my hyrdro-mechanical lower unit thru 77?

I might just have to hope to find a CHEAP CNC unit.

Thanks again guys.
