There are some writeups on this, but with Photobucket having shut down access to a lot of images, I'm feeling unclear on just where to drill for the fitting. There is a 1/8" pipe plug in a boss on the side of #1 cylinder. I haven't gotten it out but presume it goes through into the water jacket. It seems the connection really ought to be on the top anyway, and it might be just as easy to drill and tap a new opening as to persuade that slotted plug to come out. What do you experts say?

I put additional ones at the top of the cylinder head water jackets, right under the topmost 7/16" bolt. Mine has one on each side, but one on the highest cylinder (#1) will be adequate. Bear in mind tapping in this part of the water jacket will supply warmed water to the telltale, and if the motor overheats the water could be a burn hazard. The factory tapped the exhaust cover down at its lower right corner to provide cold water only. At your own risk and all that.
