What are you attaching the panels to? DO you ever want to be able to get them off to get at wires and cables? Depending on what kind of instalation you are doing and whats underneth it you can epoxy them on, use contact cement, or use screws with a canvas snap on them, put the oppisite snap on a small piece of wood covered in the same vinyl and just snap them over the screws. These are just a few of the instalations I've run across.

Re: Adiding interior panels help

the way mine were manufactured they put a bolt thru the ply /nut on back, before covering. drilled a 3/4' hole in fiberglass fitted the piece and used a large washer and nut behind the panel. i don't know how they got all the nuts on, unless the did it before the mated the hull and top. to remove i had to wedge the panel out and cut bolts with a sawsall. i just recovered and mounted with SS screws & washers... makes access so much easier.

When I built my cockpit liners,... I screwed mine into place.......

To Hide the Screws,...... Just use a Snap,.... Just like the 1s used to attach your Canvas.....

I used the "Male" side as a washer On the Screwhead,.......
Then I assembled a "female" side, without any fabric in it,......
Then all you need to do is, Snap the Cap on,+ the Screws Disappear............

If you Don't like Chrome Snaps,.... They're available in about Any color, with plastic caps......

If you look down just to the left(in the pic) on Gary's right-side,.. You can see 1 of the retaining screw/snaps, holding the bolster panel to the gunwale........

I wish I had a Better Pic,..... But,... I Don't,... And,.. It's Too Cold to go get another........... ;)

they make hangers for those panels that hook from the top and have a retainer screw at the bottom, they use them for the cockpit bolsters on the marlin boats. to attach then to the glass, get some plywood squares ,paint them on the three sides that will not be attatched and epoxy/sikaflex them onto inside of the hull in the spots where you want to mount the hangers, then just make sure your screws dont go all the way through the plywood.

Re: Adiding interior panels help

Solid, My side panels are attache to the interior of the Gunwales using 1/4-20 x 3" SS machine screws and tee nuts. Before covering the plywood with the vinyl, drill matching 1/4" holes in the strategic part of the panel and interior of the gunwale. Install the screw in the plywood, using a tee nut on the backside of the screw, and tighten. Now cover the panel with vinyl, and install it onto the hull with the screws sticking through the interior of the gunwale , and put a lockwasher and nut on the screw on the backside of the gunwale.

Re: Adiding interior panels help

Before covering I held the panels up to the inside of the boat and then drilled 5/16 holes thru the wood and the fibregalss. Then I bought some 5/16 SS carrage bolts that were long enough to go thru the wood and the glass and still have enough thread to get a washer and nut on. Do a dry fit before you cover because once you do if the bolt isn't long enough you are screwed(no pun intended)

After the dry fit....put a dab of 5 min epoxy on each carriage bolt head to hold it in place. Foam and cover the wood. panel should slide onto pre-drilled holes and you can bolt and washer it from the back.

Hope this helps
