Even with the SEI option your talking $1800+ between the conversion kit and drive.

To each his own I guess but I was just saying. For me, $55 is worth the peace of mind.

I'm going to buy these tools this week. So do detailed instructions come with them? Just so we have something to follow, that goes along with what this thread details. Those of us who do purchase these tools, may want to know that.

Boats.... yes that's REI. An aftermarket drive with a three year warranty that bolts right to your existing OMC transom assembly.
It has good reviews. If I change I'm going to go with the OMC/Volvo SX cone clutch system....1 cable and smooth shifting!

The only instructions you need are the ones in the service manual.

You have to change the entire transom shield to do that...very pricey.

I ordered mine yesterday, he emails you excerpts of the manual itself.

I want to make sure my mechanic has the tools AND the instructions. He's an awesome engine mechanic, but he doesn't do OMC. He will do a great job I'm sure. I just want to make sure he has everything to do it right, as I'm sure he doesn't have an OMC manual

Bruce, the kit to do the switch to Volvo from OMC is around 700.00 plus the cost of the drive. Still cheaper than moving to a Bravo II...at least that's what my research tells me. I have to take into account the cost of upkeep on the drive I choose. Considering that the Bravo is expensive to do maintenance on and the Volvo SX being much more user maintenance friendly. hence my decision.

Thanks for the link Reinell!
