Adjust Timming.

I want to adjust the timing of my evinrude engin, 1992 220HP Looper based on the Clymer Manual. Can I use a regular car timming light to adjust or do I need a special timing light designed for Evinrude outboard. Thanks

You can use a standard inductive pickup timing light. But timing rarely changes by itself so I'm wondering why you want to change it. If there is a particular problem with the engine, that's certainly not the first thing to check or fiddle with.
