The hand of the trim gauge for my Johnson 70 hp from 1986 is too "negative" - beyond the zero level. So, how do I adjust the trim gauge hand?

You don't, you have to physically turn the sender on the transom bracket. If the gauge did not come with the sender that it is connected to, you can't fix it.

I may be thinking of a Yamaha, but I believe you don't adjust the trim guage arm, you adjust the thing it hits. Should be a band around the engine pivot rod with a screw/bolt thru the back of it. You loosen the screw/bolt and turn the band. Its a trial and error process to get it syncronized with your guage.

I'm talking about the sending unit arm, and the thing it hits, not the actual guage. Sorry.
