advance timing tower of power question

does anyone know the proper setting for the timing advance on a 82 inline 6 115 hp? cant seem to figure it out for the life of me what exactally does this do for the motor? if it is out of adjustment does it hurt the motor? thanks

This is a critical adjustment.
Any more advance and you will burn your pistons.
Any less and you wont have much power...
