Hi, can anyone please explain what the advantage of installing motor fins are ?. I have a 15ft fibreglass half cabin with a mercury 45hp classic 50. Will it make a difference ?......

Yes sir, it'll make a difference. If you like the difference or not remains to be seen. Go to the search function and inter "hydrofoils". There are volumes of discussion about 'em.

g'luck & c/6
Hooty

I have a 14 ft Halfcab and a 50hp Merc. The reason for the tail was to control the direction of the boat at low speeds. It solved that problem.
Seems to have taken up that delay, when you turn the wheel.
Noticed NO difference in any speed or ride capabilities..

Nothing ventured.. nothing gained.. :D

The "whale tail" is the cheapest most valueble item you can put on the motor to improve preformance. I recomend them to anyone who has a 150 or less. Good luck.
CU

---------------------
RUNNING THE MOTOR WHILE LISTENING TO THE HORN WILL MAKE YOU MORN!!

I like them for the hole shot they provide and low speed stability. They also cut down on ventalation in high speed turns. I have lost no top speed with mine on both my pontoon or my runabout. Wouldn't run without one....
