Hello. I appreciate that this plea for advice might make me sound a bit of a nut case - never the less - Please excuse me I don't really know what I am talking about and hope I don't break etiquette with my poor knowledge and use of terms etc. I have recently bought a 16ft day cruiser, from ebay, without looking first, I am having it transported to my house in a week or so. As I said nutcase... Anyhow the boat needs to rebuilt, the seller says it is good for a first timer. I am doing this with my son (10 year old) - neither of us are particularly handy - I am better than I was. My dad has lots of tools although I am sure there will be things I need to get. - We have determination, patience and resolve (at the moment). Not going to throw money at the project but don't mind spending some. I was trying to think of a sensible place to start and it seemed like asking for some intro guidance on a boating forum was a good idea. here is a link to the boat http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152083762152
As far as I can tell so far - once the boat arrives at mine my starting point would be to get it level and stable in a workable cradle - have a decent look around it and then start gutting it. Any advice welcomed - thanks in advance.

Welcome to iBoats! I take it from the Ebay listing you're a member from "Across the Pond" Where exactly are you located? My first piece of advice would be to start perusing this forum and begin to read and learn all you can about the processes involved in tearing out and fabricating Decks, Stingers and Transoms on these old boats. We have hundreds of great pictorial examples of "HOW-TO" here on the forum. These two links will be a good start..

Glass is glass and tin is tin no matter what part of the globe you're in. Repairs and procedures will be the same. Only difference will be where you get your supplies!

Welcome aboard. Woodonglass is one of the best.
