Could you write a blurb (and/or point to some websites) on fishing the Chesapeake Bay?

To start out, I'd like to focus on the upper bay, and use 6 - 14 lb tackle. What freshwater opportunities exist (tribs, creeks, etc.)? What kind of brackish/salt stuff can you do?

etc.

Kind thanks in advance,

Leon

Re: Advice on fishing the Chesapeake?

I would start with the Md DNR web site, they post every wed morning all the hot spots around MD. I would also Visit Breeze Point Marina Website. I can not speak for fresh water in the Upper Bay, I do Mid Bay, most of the fish in your area are going to be perch and rock this time of year. Mid Bay people are catching and releasing rockfish in the 35# class right now. A little farther south there have been some 20 inch croakers caught. As the weather warms, we will chase Blues, Spanish Mackeral, Flounder, Sea Trout, Spot, Croaker, and Perch. If you need to know what time rigs to use for the above fish, let me know I will try to answer your questions, even thou I am no expert. One of the best things to do is go out on a charter trip in the area you want to fish and see how they do it.
Happy fishing.

I am fishing the susq. flats with some success on the high tide and the beginning of the outgoing. We are using white assassins and poppers.
