Hello,
I am going to be buying my first boat next year hopefully in time to use it at the start of spring.
What I am looking at is a Lowe FM 175DC. All we want is a boat for fishing and a nice ride every now and again.
I am a Disabled Vet so I will not be doing any skieing or tubeing. This will be strictly a fishing boat. I have never owned a boat before and I am trying to find out as much as I can before I go out to buy one. I would like to know about any problems that you may have had or just what you think about these boats. I do know that I want an alunium boat because of the price and the weight. I would really appericate any help you all can provide.
Thanks

Buying new? Odds are you'll be taken cared of. Buying used, if anything goes wrong, you're going to be on your own.

I have a 2005 FM165. Boat has been great, but my transom is having corrosion issues.

On the new boats, I noticed the splashwell contruction is a little odd. There's a panel part that isnt sealed completely so water can get into the wood core and may create issues.

I thought that they did not use any wood in the construction of these boats.

I have an 1010 FM165 my wife likes it and the 5 or 6 guys I take fishing like it. 75optimax pulls tubes fine. Gets up on plane with 4 guys all over 200lbs.
We got a bimini, I put steel back poles up to keep it up and out of the way. I added a Sony stereo, it is only used when my wife is in the boat. Engine is quiet enough to hear it. I just wish the fish finder was of a little better. But the lowrance fish finder and Lowrance cog GPS gets me around the lake on moonless nights.
We are enjoying it. No problems that I know of.

search this forum fm165 and fm175 lots of info. I also recommend that platform ladder with it. Wife can't get in and out with out it from water or shore. See it in FM165 search

The Man 5150,
It should be about time to see some pictures of your new boat. I own the exact boat you're looking at and I love it. Did have paint and hull issues with my 2008, but since Lowe replaced the hull with new in 2011, no problems what so ever. Show us some pics of your new boat.new boat 001.jpgnew boat 002.jpg
