hey everyone, glad i found this place, seems to be tons of helpful folks and great info, so if i may impose upon some of your experience i'd like to quiz some owners about my potential purchase.

i have spotted and actually left a deposit large enough to carry either of the three boats i am looking at but could use a little advice

the first is the 17 pro crappie. the one at the local dealer is allready set up with the 50 horse 2 stroke merc. nice boat reasonable price and i can fit in it ok.

second is a closeout pro 190 with 4 stroke 60 on it and while its a heck of a boat i am doubting the horses to push it and i am cramped at the helm.

the last and most promising are the 2 closeout 09's they are pro guide v16 sc that have 50 horse 2strokes on them and i fit in them the best and they should take rougher water fine.

the main question is will all of these combos perform well and especially does anyone have experience with the v16 with a 50 horse so i can get a performance expectation.

thanks in advance,

nick

Re: advice on new purchase

Nick-

Currently have the Pro Guide V-16 however it is a '06 so the beam is not a wide as the '09. I am getting a consistent 30 MPH at 5500 WOT with the 50 Merc carrying 400-450 lbs of people and gear, add to that a full tank so not all that bad.

Had a couple fountain boats blow bye on the river a few weekends ago on the river making a generous wake and there was not an issue so I would not be to concerned about rough water..............I most likely wouldn't be out if it was like that all day though! :D

Good Luck!

Re: advice on new purchase

thats good to hear since i am picking it up today!!!! thanks for the advice though, my patience is so thin with used boats anymore i just couldn't stand to wait a couple of months for a new one with upgraded engine, I think most of the dealers tracker and others have realized that with national pricing they have to have some of the base priced models in stock to not be accused of a bait and switch program, but they have to stock some with reasonable performance as well. I noticed here in alabama the BPShops in leeds actually maxed out the hp on the smaller boats ,panfishand tourney 16 instead of putting the advertised 20 on them.
