I'd like to run a simple fuel pump, i have no problem mixing my gas. plus it eliminates any possibility of something malfunctioning and ruining my rebuilt engine.

Does anyone know what this thing is exactly?

I was told it mixes the oil and fuel for you, if this is true i would like to eliminate this system for a simple fuel pump.

1. Does this thing act as a fuel and oil pump at the same time? Vacum off of intake manifold.
2. Could i use this thing to simply act as a fuel pump or would i be better of getting a nice small unite?

No need to go great detail.

Thanks

Re: advice please. 1986 evinrude 70hp fuel pump "New pictures"

Thanks, I didn't know that.

So i just did a little search on it. And I think,
I'm just starting to understand what this VRO does. My guess it automatically regulates/mixes the amount of oil. but i have a couple questions.
I'm sort of on a budget which explains why i bought a dusty powerhead in pieces in a box that needed a .30 oversize, that has been sitting in someone's shop for the last 5 years.
Things are going well now, the motor is just about finished, All i need to sort out is the fuel delivery.

Should my engine work work fine(to rich/lean mixture) if I just run premixed fuel through this VRO system without the oil part hooked up. OR would i be better off just eliminating it completely and using a simple Fuel pump

Any suggestions or advice welcome.

Take a look at my rebuild, if your wondering about my work area(ATV trailer outside), it's because the shop is full of Triumph TR3 and unimog restoration stuff.

I read somewhere (iboats or continuous wave), that you could just leave an inch or so of hose (at the motor). Shove a bolt in the hose that fits snug (threaded part) and then put a hose clamp at the end of hose/bolt head. I was planning to do this myself and its a bit cheaper. Won't this do the same thing ?

you read it here:

VRO conversion w/ pump still working

if the fuel side on your Pump is still working it is very simple. unplug the 2 line harness going to the oil tank, unplug the 3 or 4 wire harness, going to the Vro pump. cut and cap the oil line going into the motor. add oil to fuel tank, mix well, then remove fuel line at top carb, catching gas in a container, pump the fuel line bulb until you get premixed gas to the carb. you can tell as it will change color. put line back on carb, and go boating.

One more question tashasdady,

Do I need to do anything to any other surrounding vacum lines? Other than the ones you already noted

Example: eliminate/block off? Choke lines?
