Re: African queen

"LOL Okay..... if you have a six-pack and drink them all what do you have left?"

I'd probably have a better understanding of whatever y'all are talking about!:D

Hmmm. On second thought, that may take more than six...

Re: African queen

Am I oversimplifying charles' law?

As heat increases, more liquid is turned to gasious state thus increasing the PSI inside the vessel. To what ratio it's increased, I have no idea. Not all liquid will be able to turn states though simply due to the lack of "room" in the vessel. Look on youtube for something called BLEVE. It's really cool to watch, just hope you're never near one. :D

Where did you get 1600x for the conversion of water to steam? We've always been taught 1300x.

Several sources, but the best one I found was steam expansion (volume)? It comes up under answers yahoo.

I completely agree with you on the water/steam mixture. When the valve to the engine is opened, the water should flash to steam, the condensatoin of which (due to the increasing volume of the cylinder) will impart the stored energy to the piston. What I don't know is; how much energy is stored?
