After a few weeks of searching Craigslist, wantad, etc...I saw an ad for a 1979 14' Bayliner Mosquito hooked up to a 1981 85hp Chrysler outboard. Drove 2 hrs to look at it. Hooked the muffs to it and after checking to see that the engine was cold (sellers can be shady sometimes) it started right up and idled perfect. Had full LED gauges and LED interior lights as well as LED bow lights. Only issue I noticed was there was a spot on the hull directly below the plug where it looked like it dropped off the trailer or ran aground, owner said it leaked a little but didn't leak enough to be a concern. Took it home that night for the sweet price of 900 bucks.

After washing/waxing/touching up the interior, I took it out on the river. Ran great and all gauges worked as they should. Had it in the river for about an hour or so, when I pulled it out and unscrewed the plug, a bit of water drained out, but not a ton. Overall, its a great boat for the money and I'm planning on putting a new carpet and seats in it this winter.

Fix the leak if you can find it that's gonna cause trouble in the long run

Absolutely fix the leak. Also if you haven't already, inspect the transom for cracks and rotten wood. You may have to drill test holes that can be filled.

Sounds like a nice boat. We also like pictures here. Hint hint.

Welcome to iboats:welcome:

Definitely check for leaks - but it may not be a leak. When boats sit, they can accumulate water in spots that don't drain well, until after you have run the boat, which allows the trapped water to drain to the bilge.

Thank you for the warm welcomes everyone! I intend on running the boat as it is for the rest of the summer and fix the hole and upgrade the interior this winter. The bilge pump takes care the leaky hull for now. I just installed an old compass I had kicking around in my garage for a while this past weekend. Here are some pictures.
