It goes in easy all engine orientations but never shows even spline marks

Success

11mm made all the difference

original height 32.3 cm

after alignment 31.2 cm

used the grease marks just as a general guide and was much more cognizant of how much force was necessary to move the bar back and forth once in

started at the old height and using one half turn increments and went past the easiest movement then came back in one third turn increments

the bar is tough for an amateur to use as it always seemed to be easy to move

I've got to design one with a force meter on it and make my millions

Thanks much guys

Re: After swapping engines is aligning a must?

never got perfect grease marks

put her in the water today for a shakedown putter around a well protected harbour after 20 months sitting in a field and 2months of fiddlin

used engine and outdrive installed new battery new prop and tilt rams all off a donor boat so luckily I have two of everything most of which is good or new

engine runs perfect except she stalls going into forward gear and I think she's runnin hot

runs perfect in reverse as that is how I got her back to the launch in Whitby
Harbour

probably lookin at bad clutch dog

going to swap in the bottom end of my good outdrive tomorrow

and have a look at the splines and coupler

that water pump is new and I think that gearset has alot less hours on it

also the plugs are blackened so she runnin too rich

when you buy an old boat you are buyin a hobby
