Hello all ,Been getting great advise here and it's time for my first post.I am looking to replace my exhaust manifolds and risers on my 86 sea ray with a 4.3l v-6. The price difference between mercruiser manifolds and aftermarket seems to be almost double. Have seen some good prices on aftermarket packages on the net , just worried about the quality. Can anyone recommend a brand and/or source for replacements-thanks

What do you think happens when anything in this world is built by the lowest bidder?

Geez Don, you make it sound like OEM is always the best. Do you really think they manufacture all their own parts with the highest possible quality, regardless of price?

As far as manifolds and risers, I've used OSCO's for many years and have never had a problem. And YES, they cost about half of the OEM's.

From my experience, yes. Mostly because they try to be better because they have to warrant the parts when new and include the complete engine.

No, but the do have a lot tighter and higher quality control plan in place for their suppliers.

But, how long did they last compared to the oem manifolds? That is the question. From what I see, OEM's last longer.

Only us fools with the OMC's have to use osco; but we know better, not to use gml.

The sad voice of experience here. Stay away from GLM! Tried to save some $ and got new GLM cast iron manifolds and risers for my 4.3 for $408 on ebay, had to pay $60 for shipping but it was still WAY cheaper than oem. But beware, there are ALOT of unhappy campers out there, just go thru the posts and you will find them. They are NOT good to go right out of the box, most of the posts had mating surfaces not being flat and mine have that as well a 2 other defects (see my other post on GLM quality issues). These things are made in China so that should tell ya something right there. Listen to Don S and the rest of us and spend a bit more $ but save yourself some major headache and frustration! Not to mention leaking manifolds!
