Aftermarket trim and tilt

My boat(see sig) has a manual tilt and I am getting lazy in my old age. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good aftermarket trim tilt unit?

Here you go . its easy to install and a great piece of workman ship. I run an 85 h/p rude and was in your shape so to say ( being old and some what lazy) I ordered the pt130 and have not regretted it. It does more then I expected and is well built. OH!!! and quiet to.<br /> <br /> web page

Thanks for the advice guys. <br /><br />I have seen the ads for the CMC product, but had never heard from an owner. The panther looks like a good unit also.

You won't go wrong with the CMC it comes with everything you need. I ordered mine without the trim Gauge.<br />I can post you an actual picture of it in operation if you want.

Very happy with my CMC PT-130, that thing is built to last! <br />Only thing I had to change the relays , they didn't like being submerged in saltwater for days =)) <br />I ordered mine with the tilt gauge, but havent mounted it yet, I found it hard to see anything but tilted full up or down.

The mechanical parts of the PT-30 (PT-130s little brother) are very well built. The wiring harness leaves something to be desired and I assume it is the same on both as they have the same hydrolic system. The Tyco brand relays are poorly sealed, get the genuine OMC relays and forget about it. The in line fuse holder was something I replaced as well as the cover on the original would not stay closed. For the cost I expected better electrical parts on a marine application item. The addition of power tilt and trim is the single best use and performance addition I made.

I don't have the part number but when I had a problem I called CMC and the tech guy said there was only one five (5) prong OMC relay. He recommended insisting on geniune OMC labeled parts. If it is some other aftermarket you will get what you already have. Look at the bottom of the relay and see how well it is potted (sealed). The guy at the OMC part house knew just what I wanted when asking for a five prong relay.

I have had mine on for a year now and no problems yet. You have to admit the frame for that tilt is well built. Not a seam anywhere. MY wireing harness is well sealed.

Thanks for all the input. I ordered the CMC tonight.<br /><br />I'm a little concerned about the holes in the transom being positioned properly. With an old engine like mine, I've been told that the hole pattern may not be standard. I hope I'm worrying for nothing.

No problem with the holes, the frame is overbuilt enough that you can drill new holes in it if need be. Easy drilling with slow RPM drill, I used a 9.6 volt Makita,WD 40 for cutting oil.
