Age of 50 Hp johnson

Hello new to the boat world here i bought a older baot it has a 50 hp johnson on it or at least i think it is i found these 2 numbers on the motor 1970401 and v4sc-11 c that 11 might be a 4 cant tell for sure any and all info will be a big help

Thank you any chance that you might be able to lead me to somewere i can find a manual for these I dont even know what kinda fuel or oil to use or how to change the oil!

It's a 2-stroke, so you mix your oil in with the fuel. The ratio for that engine is 24:1 87 octane gas and TC-W3 outboard oil. That works out to a quart of oil for 6 gallons of gas.

No, 2 stroke meaning that it develops power every second stroke each piston makes. This is different from an auto, 4-stroke engine where the engine only develops power every fourth up-down movement.<br />This explains it a lot better than I can, although that's for an air-cooled single cylinder engine, the principal is the same:<br /> http://science.howstuffworks.com/two-stroke1.htm <br /><br />I know that a 50s 50hp is a V-4. <br /><br />Hope that helps!

Yes, as long as you understand that I ment up-down being the same as down-up.

Every down stroke of the piston is a power stroke.
