Age of Oil

[Water Strider]

I was given a case of Evinrude outboard oil.

It's in the round can with a pull top.

I'd say it's 20-25 years old.

It was kept in a garage.

Does this stuff go bad?

Sell it on Ebay or Craigslist...guy here PNW has 3 cans for sale at $10 apiece...collecter item..

it will not go bad but I would also say to throw it on Ebay... people collect that type of vintage stuff

becides that will not be TCW III

If you do want to use it, you need to burn it in a motor of the same vintage. For example, when my Outboard was new in '77, TC-W oil was specified. When my '58 Fat-Fifty was new, regular SAE-30 motor oil was specified since neither TC-W oil or single weight detergent motor oil was invented. They did have 2-cycle oil back in the fifties, however, it may have been regular SAE-30 motor oil with dye in it.
