Hi all
Im after the bolts or the description of the six small bolts that secure the airbox assembly to the face of the carburettors on my 1981 Johnson 50hp.
Model no:J50BELCI.
Or if anyone knows the bolt type or thread type ?
Thanks for any ideas
Max

Re: Air box bolts?

Ive had mine undone lately to replace the gasket thats between the airbox and the carb.
The screws are the type which you often see going into plastic. They have a very large pitch
Im not sure what the specific thread type measurement is but the part number is 0334884 - SCREW
If you google that and then click on image list then the first image that appears in the list is correctly what it looks like.
The original OEM replacement screws are expensive, you could take the inner airbox to a shop and see if they have any that screw in

Have not worked on one for a while ----10-24 NC comes to mind.---------If that is a problem look into a " next size up " metric thread.--Use a top and install metric bolt.

They are not metric. Go to a good hardware store and get them in stainless steel.

I certainly know they are not metric !!!-----For folks in a remote location it might be much simpler to tap them out and install 6 mm bolts if the original bolts are nowhere to be found.

Re: Air box bolts?

Hi All
After taking a spare carby that I had to the engineering place near my work, the guy that's been there forever (Ted) rumiged around in a box and found a couple of dozen 10-24 NC bolts with alen key heads that did the trick, so hope that helps someone else..... Thanks for all your replies
Cheers Max
