Greetings one and all,
This is all new to this old man. Planing on buying a 12' Sevylor 360 soon.
I have a 150 PSI air compressor mounted in my Jeep and was wondering if I can use that to inflate my Boat someway. Anyone tried to hook up air hose to the air valve on their boat? What type of fitting might I use?
Thanks in advance.:)

Re: Air compressor

Hi wwron!
I am assuming this is a very low volume type of compressor. Two problems here. First and most important. Never use a high pressure compressor to inflate an inflatable. Anything capable of producing over a few PSI will ruin your boat. Second. Assuming this is a low volume pump, it will take forever to inflate your boat.
I recommend getting yourself a hi volume/low pressure electric pump or a manual pump designed for inflatables.
The right pump will inflate your boat in only a few minutes without stressing the seams of your boat.
I personally use a cheap Coleman electric then top everything off with a foot pump. I can inflate my 12.5 foot boat in 5 minutes.

Good luck!

Being low volume, high pressure, you could only inflate an air mat floor with your pump as long you hava a pressure gauge attached to the ext hose valve adapter, follow recommendations given by Hammer 66.

Do you have a York based compressor? (Engine driven). If so it will work great! If it is a smaller electric version forget it. I use my home compressor often to top up the boat on the trailer. Since I have a hand pump, I just use the gauge/hose assembly from that to fill with.

Re: Air compressor

Greetings,
Did a test today with my compressor on my Jeep. Blew up a Coleman queen size air bed (PVC) took about 8min. bed was very firm no need for any hand pump to top off. This set up will work great on my soon to have Sevylor.

Re: Air compressor

If your Sevylor sib has a internal strip pressure gauge attched into one of the internal tubes, don't ever pass the max working recommended pressure for it or will end blowing side seams.

I must be missing something. It should take less than a minute to inflate a queen sized air mattress. In any case, inflating your raft with a compressor will put a lot of stress on the seams, and those little Sevylors aren't exactly beefy to begin with. The best approach is to use a cheap 12 volt pump to attain near complete inflation followed by a manual topping off with the hand or foot pump of your choice. I prefer a K Pump. Think all of this has been covered though. Good luck.

Not a queen size air mattress a queen size bed. Will be looking into the K pump.
