Here's one from 15 years or so ago.

I worked as an EMT at Lake Mead durong my off time as a Sgt. in the Air Force at Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, NV. They had some off shore boat races at the lake one day and I was working as a medic on one of the National Park Service boats. We got a call for an injury at the boat ramp after the race. This is pretty common and could include cut feet, head injuries from slipping on the ramp or trailers or worse. We went code 3 to the ramp to find a gentleman holding a bloody towel to his mouth. He wouldn't let anyone help him at first so he could finish his tequila. Drunks are always fun to render aid to... He finished his drink and allowed us to help. He was one of the owners of the winning boat and as he was high fiving and hand shaking everyone around, he bent over and reached out to pat a guys dog on the head. Well, his loud voice, fast movement, and exhuberent behavior scared the dog and the dog bit him on the lower lip. When he stood up, the people around him were staring at him in horror. A small piece of his lip was missing and a large portion of his lip and cheek had been avulsed and was flapping down. They tried to convince him he needed help but he was a little resistant at first. We got him packaged up and were on our way to the nearest emergency room in Boulder City, but he refused to allow us to take him to Boulder City. Instead he got on his phone and had some well known plastic surgeon rounded up to meet him down at another Las Vegas hospital so he could get put back together (I don't blame him at all for that move.). He was nice enough on the way to the hospital, but wouldn't put that damn phone down and no one could understand him because of his injury and the drinking. He finally settled down and we got him to the hospital with no further problems. I was going to work the next morning and heard Mark and Brian from a radio program call him and give him a hard time about the incident. He said he didn't blame the dog and wasn't going to press charges. The injured man was Jan Michael Vincent from the TV show Air Wolf and other movies.

Here's a related web site article of the incident.

Hey luv2bOat,

Funny story, but Ouch!!!. Bet you have some other stories to tell about Mead as well. I spend a lot of time there and it is amazing how much trouble that Lake can dish out. I am also a big Mark and Brian fan, I am sure they had a lot of fun with it . . . :D

Drunk, testosterone levels high from the race, rottweiller, all kind of spells Stupid Human Trick!

We run EMS on lake Raystown so I understand what some of that can be like, and we probably don't have near the stuff that happens as Mead does.

Re: Air Wolf meets hungry dog

Someone called in a dead guy tied to a trash can that was intnetionally maed to float. I guess they wanted the guy found.

Body under a burning mattress

Ultralight stuck on the side of a cliff. The ultralight frame broke and the open end of the tube stuck in the guys butt muscle. When it was removed, the plug of muscle came with it. Lots of two butt hole comments came from that one.

One guy, at night, dove off the intake towers that feed southern calif and never came back up. All we ever recovered were the shoes he left on the tower

Fall off a jetflea and the wind blows it away faster than the operator can swim and floats around for a few hours. Ends up dehydrated because he forgets to drink, but he's floating in a lake....it takes all kinds.

Nude beaches

JetFlea drove over a guys back in the swimming area and broke his sinus process--gut arrested and charged on that one.

One gal was so tired from trying to get back on top of one of the old fashioned jet skis she didn't notice her top was down when we were helping to get her moving again.

Then there are the really sad ones and this happpens several times a year where an adult isn't paying close enough attention. The kid they are watching gets on a floaty thing of some sort and a high wind blows them out to deep water where they fall off and if they are not wearing a life preserver, they drown.

Slip diving off the side of the boat and hit your head on the side of the boat and drown.

Boating can be a TON of fun, but water can be very unforgiving if you do not give it the respect it needs.

Drunks, druggies from the Dead Heads.

Saw a lot there.
