OK so I finally got the module for my old tach and it is working.... but on the module it has a blue wire that connects to either.. th red wire for 2cyl, or the brown wire for 4 cyl. trouble is brown and red are both tan now. I have it hooked up to what I think is the red wire, and it shows about 2600 rpm at the throttle stop for starting, but goes to 350 at ilde, which seems way to low. I guess what I'm asking is what's the difference between the 2 and 4 cyl ignition, would it read half? or double if I got the brown wire instead of the red one which I would like...

TIA!!

Re: airguide tach help.....again

well after some research, it would seem that Iit would read half speed if I crossed the wrong wires, I don't think this thing will spin 6k so it must be right I guess..

A Great source of Instructions that were actually sold with new Airguide tachs can be found at this website in dowloadable pdf format for viewing in adobe reader. You will be able to see multiple wiring diagrams for single/dual motor set up, how to jump the transmitter for 2 cylinder VS. 4 cylinder and also 6 cylinder applications. Many models are listed, just find your model and click the link that applies to your tach. I hope this will help eliminate any questions reffering to wire color, as it gives detailed visual reference to the actual terminals on the transmitter and signal input locations coming from the engine. Although it sounds like you've already fxed it.
