Just bought a boat with 1986 150hp v6 xr2 black Max on it. Motor runs great however there was no warning alarm sound when I started it. The alarm was in quicksilver control box and it was shot so I installed a new one. still no sound when I turn the key on unless I take tan wire off terminal block part #86-45915 and ground the wire directly to motor. When ground directly to motor alarm is loud and constant but stays on. It stays on regardless of it I connect heat sensor wire or oil injection wire to it. So I'm lost? If it doesn't sound at all on terminal block but won't shut off ground what is next? I want to get it working so I can then test to see if the heat and oil sensors are working right.

Yes iv left all connections screwed to terminal block then ran a jumper wire from the screw to the head itself when I do that I do have continuous beeeeeeep from alarm when key is turned to on. If i remove other wires ie heat sensor and oil from that same terminal block but leave wire from alarm on it still no sound unless I ground that screw to head via jumper wire. So ultimate question is why wont alarm make any noise unless it is being ground to head itself? Because it is supposed to give a warning beep when you first turn the key to on.

it should do everything like you are saying if i'm understanding it right. sounds like your main concern is "not beeping" when key is turned on. if thats the case then here's your answer.

if its not beeping when key is turned on then 99.9% of the time the oiler alarm module is bad. heat side alarm has nothing to do with oil side including the initial key on beeps. oil module alone is responsible for that.

so you are at a crossroads of the cost of the module, a must if you keep the oiler intact, or oiler delete.
