Alarm module for 120 Model J120TLESB

The local marine repair shop is telling me that this motor shouldn't make a "beep" when the key is turned on. All the posts I can find indicate that this should occur when the key is turned on. I've posted before asking for the part number for this alarm module, but the number that was provided (058393) looks in all the diagrams that I can find, like it goes in the remote. Mine is located in the steering console and is a flat unit with 3 wires (I think they're purple, black and tan). My questions are: Should the alarm beep when the key is turned on? Is this the correct part number? Thanks.

You may have an after market horn which I have seen in boats before. You could try 583931 and see if that works. The one in the remote is 583891 but both horns should function the same with the self test.
