Was out boating today on the lake tubing with the kids. Ran fine all afternoon, alarm never went off, took the boat home, sat there for a couple hours, then took it out to where I keep it stored, I turned the key on to lower the motor, and the alarm went off and stayed on while the key was on??? Its never done this before, what gives?

Its an 84 115.

This is a VRO motor I believe???? Something wrong with the oil tank sensor. Might be thinking it is out of oil.

Possible, but the oil side has been disconnected and I've been running premix all year. Unless a wire poped off or something when I was trailering it.

Well, what else does the alarm sound for? Temperature? Bad temperature sensor?

I would start looking into the wiring. Try and bypass the temp sensor and see if it stops.

Ya its either temp or oil? I'll have a look next time out to the boat.

Disconnect the tan wire that runs from the temp sensor to the alarm module. If the alarm continues to sound you have a bad module. If not, the temp sender is stuck in the HOT (closed) position. That can be checked with an ohm meter.

Said you lowered the mtr, a pinched tan wire some where, either on the mtr or control box ?

Thanks, I'll check that out.

Don't think there is anywhere it can pinch by lowering the engine.
