I've tested the alarm by disconnecting the tan wire, and the alarm sounds when a screwdriver was inserted, but last weekend I ran out of gas with no warning from the horn, will the alarm sound only if there is a restriction, or will it sound if can is out of gas and running on fumes as well?

Re: Alarm

There is NO "out of gas" warning. Note..... if your engine has the VRO setup and you run the engine out of gas, keep in mind that the VRO is still pumping oil.

The result is that you end up with the carburetors being full of oil.

Re: Alarm

Brian, The Check Engine(no fuel) alarm sounds when there is a vacuum buildup in the gasoline supply hose, due to an obstruction in the filters or tank or tank vent clogging. If you run out of gas, the hose will be full of air, but not the vacuum necessary to set off the alarm.
