Alcan:<br /><br />From reading the posts here it appears that you have a method for identifying Force motors. Could you help me please:<br /><br />Force 5 HP model # 52F9A Serial # 1677 or tell me where to go to get it. Seller says it is a 1992 and that it has a universal shaft (long or short). Have you ever heard of a universal shaft.<br /><br />I really appreciate your help.

Hi muskie, my U.S.Marine/Force year model guide tops out at 1987. The last year U.S.Marine made Force. So I don't know the year. I checked the OEM service manual for Force 5hp motors made between 1988-91. There is no mention of a universal shaft length. Nor have I ever heard of it. This does not mean it doesn't exist, as I am not a Force expert. After 1988 force motors were made by Brunswick Co. the same company that owns Mercury. There was no 5hp Force model prior to 1988.
