so i got the boat back yesterday, when i dropped off he said maybe 50-100 dollars. well once he got to looking at it, when the bushings were pressed into the flywheel housing, they didnt go in all the way and that it what was holding the motor up. well he said that he tried to get the bushings all the way in and could not budge then no matter what he did so he measured how far they had to go and cut that much off the bottom. then adjusted the front and got it right. the alignment is right and he showed me pictures of everything start to finish. the only bad thing is he charged me 280 dollars.

all i can think of is it was my first time using the alignment tool, and maybe it just didnt go all the way in, it def does now, but i think it was just like this time where it would go in but hit the splines before it went all the way in

I would be very worried.
All they did is determine it was too high and ground it off. They didn't find the cause of the problem.
Could be you had the new style Merc motor mounts that don't use the double lock washer. Or, you may have had new mounts installed without removing both spacers.
There is no way of telling what your problem was.
But grinding to fit, is a hack cure.

PS: Sure hope the heat from the grinding didn't loosen the rubber from the aluminum bolt support.

if spacers are in there it wont be going anywhere should be okay, not much you can do about it now.

Uhhhhhh, perhaps finding the actual problem and fixing it right may be a good idea. Could prevent problems in the future.
I can see all kinds of problems, failed coupler is one of them that hits the top of the list.
