Ok I finally got the bellhousing off and went to check alignment and its off, the flange that the u joint bellows slides over on the transom side is worn on the bottom, is there a way to replace this part and if so what is it. I guess I will be replacing the retainer also cause thats showing some signs of wear on the bottom too. Thanks

Those flanges don't wear off, the corrode away from water in the bellows.
About the only repair is an new housing.
Not sure what retainer your referring to. Pictures might be a good idea to really see your problems.

Re: Alignment Question

Yeah there was water in the bellows which is why I was changing them. How much corrosion will there have to be for me to have to get a new housing. Wasn't planning on having to fork out the money on a new housing. The retainer is on the drive side that threads into the upper housing over the yoke. That has some corrosion on the bottom also.

For what it is worth, if it makes you feel any better, I ended up having to do the same thing a few years ago. :( I researched a product called GHR but concluded it was way more expensive than it was worth. If you shop around on craigslist and ebay you can usually find a good used one for reasonable money.

Re: Alignment Question

Yeah I looked up that product and agree thats it's way too expensive for what you get, I found a great deal on ebay so I lucked out there, next question is about removing the old gimble housing, is that something that the engine has to be pulled to do or can it be done with it in? Thanks Adam

Re: Alignment Question

The engine has to be pulled, no other way.
