I'm trying to find dimensions for the Merc alignment tool. I've found the modification specs (to make the old tool work on the newer drives) but not the complete dimensions.<br /><br />Outdrive is Alpha I Gen II

All the dimensions you need to make an alignment bar are in that drawing except for the diameter of the small end of the shaft. (the first 2.200")<br />If no one has that number, you can go to your local Merc, OMC, or Volvo shop and measure the end of their alignment bar. They are all the same diameter.

find an old shaft and weld it to a piece of pipe.

I just measured mine with digital calipers for a friend. The smallest OD is 1.00". The shaft total length is 22."

I should have also indicated that the shaft OD is 1.375" (after the first two steps).<br /><br />So the three OD's are 1.00, 1.15, and 1.375.<br /><br />Here are the lengths of the first two steps:<br /><br /> http://www.boatfix.com/merc/Bullet/92/92_09.pdf
