Going to make her maiden voyage tomorrow. Shake down cruise. Finished up the last today. Put a "81" 90 HP Merc 6 cylinder, 45# Minkota trolling motor, and the top. Started the Merc, nice idle, opens up very quick. Can't wait to try it wot. Here is a link if you would like t see all of the pictures from the farmers field to finished. Quite a transformation.

79 johnson 115 sea horse slow cranking

79 johnson 115 sea horse slow cranking

I was wondering if anyone could steer me in the right direction? I recently bought a boat with a 115 johnson on it. When I got it home and put it on the engine stand to go over it I found that it would not crank the way it was supposed to and almost not at all on a fresh battery. I replaced the starter and I am now having the same exact problem. I am going right from the battery with good jumper cables and am grounding the cables out properly. It almost sounds like the motor has too much compression or can not breath. When I take the plugs out it cranks fine. Does anyone know why this might be happening?

Re: All Finished, Ready to go!!

Mark, it is a 1967 Charger All Family Craft, tri hull, center console. It has taken over a year to get the information that I have on it so far and to get it in shape. I had a 50 hp Merc on it last summer and just didn't have the power that I wanted. WOT gave me just about 19 mph by the GPS. Am going to see what the 90 will do for me tomorrow and report back. Will be taking some pics under way.

Nice job, looks much better with the weeds removed.

You brought that a long way back, don't know if I would have even tried it myself, enjoy.
