All systems go - except radio?

Started the boat up today and it went great. The only thing that was not working was the radio. A very minor inconvience. I was wondering if the radio is typically wired to the fuse box underneath the helm or does it go directly to the battery? I looked under the glove box on the passenger side where the radio is and i could not follow the wires to the fuse box or back around to the battery. If it is typically wired to the fuse box I could see if a fuse is blown. Thanks

I am willing to bet it is due to corrosion on the fuses and connections. I would pull EVERY fuse in the boat and lightly clean the fuses and connections with some fine steel wool.

So the radio does connect to fuse panel? If so i will definitely start there because they are nicely labled. Everything else worked however. Horn, lights, bilge, blower

I'd be fairly certain it's wired to the fuse box. As mentioned, fuses corrode over time in a boat environment. Could be a loose wire also.

Yes it should be wired to your fuse block, but you cannot limit yourself to the fuse block. The easiest way to troubleshoot this issue is with a Volt/Ohm Meter and see if you have 12 volts at your radio, use your Ohms setting on your volt meter to test resistance/continuity on your ground. If you have 12 volts and no resistance on your ground its safe to say your radio is done for. If you do not have 12 volts or have high resistance on your ground then you have to fix that issue before turning to your radio.

As always check for these values from the Negative Battery post to the radio, if you have an issue then from the radio back towards the battery until you find the source of your issue. Negative lead on your Volt Ohm meter never leaves the negative battery post.
