Re: All you Rummy supporters

JB normally I agree with you but this time I don't. I don't see any personal attacks. I see people calling other people on their opinions, but that's not a personal attack. If someone can state an opinion on here but isn't allowed to have that opinion challenged then there is no point to these boards.

Agree, WITF. That's why I unlocked it.

I still see the opening post as an invitation to a fight.

Re: All you Rummy supporters

Why?

It's a classic example of the results of a free and vibrant press--and the mainstream media at that-- yet again pointing out flaws in our system, and holding people's feet to the fire. It's their job.

That some don't like the results of that is not a concern.

Holding people's feet to the fire is not on the iboats agenda, PW2.

The constant bickering and outright fights on DC about politics has driven away too many members. We get bitter complaints about it. We have even discussed banning political topics altogether. The subject is not closed.

I have been guilty of it, yes. I have a short fuse, just like several members here. I react to provocation, I don't initiate.

We, as in you AND me (and others), must clean up our act and behave like gentlemen. No more derogatory names for politicians, members or political points of view, no more invitations to a confrontation and no more vile jokes ridiculing people.

If I went off half cocked about this thread, at least I did it in a reversible way. When I cooled down I unlocked it. I apologise for the mistake, but not for doing my job.

I will make mistakes in the future, too. People who never make mistakes aren't testing themselves or their responsibilities.

Hope now you see why this guy was so bad for our country. He got us in a crap war, for reasons unknown, unprepared without a plan. He is gone, thank goodness. New SEC of DEF, at least no more hold the course that so many fell for. Now it is kick butt and get out or get out in the near future but at least there is a plan.

Now what about the real soldiers, not Rummy dodgers guys. Sec of Def tours outpatient housing and the troops are not being give top notch treatment. No if, ands or buts, the problem is addressed and yes not by picking out some mid officer but going to the person who is being paid to be responsible. Two stars gone.

Folks this is part of what was wrong with the George W. administration. Personally it looks too late to save his legacy but at least his Dad sent him some people to try.

Wake up America, there are strong and good leaders, we just need to take the power away from the private interest (large corporations). Shame we can not replace the VP now.

See I changed the heading. Let's be civilized, after all there are many proper ways to say things

I hope you still let me call John Kerry: P***, JB. The times we live in have very important things goin' on: 9-11, the war on terror, and we are closely divided without an heir apparent for 2008. A respectfull exchange of ideas, (as usually happens here), is actually real helpfull and informative. Those who get real bitter, (and I'm fairly sure I trigger my fair share of resentment here on iboats), may be so full of themselves and wound up soooo tight that they just can't look in the mirror and take a deep breath. I really try to stay on topic, n' try to encourage critical thinkin' here. Those who are real set in their ways really "feel" chalanged by such an approach, (IMHO). I am not taking shots at anyone specifically here, as I think I've made peace with those who have courage and directly confront me when I get too arrogant. Thank You iboats!! JR

No, Murky. Please don't call Sen. Kerry insulting names. It cheapens your arguments.

You got it, Plainsman. All of those are insults or at least derogatory.

Maybe if we stop using them things can be a bit more civil around here.

Well, JB, While I already try to confine my comments to ideas, and not personalities, I will redouble those efforts.

And if we could eliminate some of the labels and adjectives designed with the sole purpose of invoking ridicule I will be thrilled.

Amen and understood JB. I just hope it is applied to all and if not...I guess it's up to the mods or iboats. But it should applied to all and consequences to those that don't. Otherwise it is a mute.

PW2. I believe we agree. I welcome a PM from you to clarify your statement. Again, I think we are on the same page.

There are big changes in place and in the works.

Nice to see you KeltonKrew. Stick around.
