Rebuilding the tilt cylinder on my 84' 50horse Johnny. Inside is the releif valve. The lower part of the relief valve assembly screws into the bottom of the tilt cylinder. At the top of this assembly is a white "plastic" cap. The manual says to replace the oring at that cap. Thing is, I can't find the oring in the parts breakdown. The one that was on there cam off like putty. And no oring that came with the oring kit fits. Looked through all my "stuff" and can't find nothing on the oring.

Anybody got any ideas? This is the TNT unit with the lift bracket bolted to the swivel bracket.

Jim

OBJ..... I thought I had a couple of those left over that I could give you one, but after looking high and low (even in the used stuff), apparently I do not. The "O" Ring is not replaceable and the item you need comes only as a set.... the plunger and the upper receptacle as part number 173206. It's price is outrageous.

Yeah...don't I know Joe. Strange the service manual would say "replace this oring" and I checked all the service manuals with that TNT unit in them. They all say the same....weird.

Did OMC make these units or were they made for OMC by an outside firm....not sure.

Hey...appreciate ya' lookin' Joe.

Jim

I don't know who actually made the units but since they were sold thru OMC with a OMC part number, I just had to look upon them as a OMC unit.

It's just an idea, but if it's an o-ring in the normal sense a hydraulics shop may be able to help you out. Failing that a place like epm.com might be the place to go. Usually though an o-ring will turn out to be a fairly normal metric or imperial one.

Well that's the bad part Paul. From what the rod looks like, it's not an oring per say...but more of a slightly elongated flat ring with shoulders to hold it into the rod and plastic cap slots. I got some feelers out. Maybe pick up a used one somewheres. Gotta get it fixed.....belongs on my 50horse!!!
