Well, when my buddies and I were 17 years old my friends father let us take his Tahiti w/ a four banger Merc for a 3 day weekend. Huge event for us because if everything went smooth, we were going to have more of these. We were wild kids but for this weekend we were on our best behavior. Last day we loaded up the boat and headed for home, about a 3 1/2 hour trip. My buddy was driving like a saint, nothing could go wrong from here, right. Well we pulled into the gas station to fill up the truck and when we got out to fill her up, we hear something knocking. Turns out we left the key in the ignition and it wiggled its way on and fired up the boat while we were on the freeway. Fried that motor. With the help of the father, we did all the wrenching on that boat and he payed for the machining and the parts. He wasn't that mad and let us take it out on many other occasions. Lesson learned
