i had a post earlier discussing my 79 evinrude 85 hp v4. I couldnt get it to start, got some answers so heres where I am now. I had a crank no start, I replaced the spark plugs, made sure I had a good spark on all 4. Then I sucked out all the old gas put in fresh. then I took the carbs off broke them down cleaned everything put them back together. Now it cranks and starts! It will run good for 3-5 seconds then it starts sputtering and dies out. what could be causing it to do this? what should I check now? thanks for the help.
