alpha 1 clicking

87 alpha one with a 5.0 mercruiser


It chicks when you rev it up on the water hose.Im not sure if its the foot or the exhoust.im just wondering it its naturel.this is my first sturn drive.

Shouldn't click. Have you got the drive all the way up in the trailer position?

no it was close to the ground.

it sort of sounds like the prop put when i rev it to like 3,000 rpm i can feel a vibration in the drive.It has 4 bolts in it and the top is square.I just did a bellows repair and if im not mistakeing it did it before too.could be be because the drive is not in the water and putting pressure on it?

Mine does this too, a kind of worrying rattling whe on the hose, seems to get better if you lower it some
But then I know I have a impeller problem right now, dont know if thats related

nope mine is new.it dont do it in gear.oh well lol ive been reading about alot of people haveing this problem.it runs perfict besides that noise.its quiet in the water.

You shouldn't be revving it that high on muffs anyway, it serves no purpose.

well i was trying to blow out really old gas.It had alot of bad gas in it and i drained it all out and had to run some out.
