Is it driveable in the short term? Wanted to go to the lake this weekend. Boat runs fine and outdrive engages and disengages fine.

Would it be ok to take it to the lake? Then I'll have chore of finding a replacement.

not sure what caused it. Probably hit something at the lake last weekend. You don't think it will last one outing?

Maybe it will, maybe not. Pull the prop and see what that crack is affecting- see where the prop shaft runs through? It might be better to inspect and maybe have welded now, instead of loosing the piece and then having to purchase a whole new lower?

My brother had a crack just like that. The previous owner dropped the drive while pulling it.
He had used it for a couple of years before he sold it to my brother who also used it for a couple of years.
Maybe its still out there somewhere. Maybe this is that Glastron!

I think the crack has been there a while. I looked at the crack a little more closely and it doesn't look new.

No, my boats not a Glastron :) Mines an old 1988 Wellcraft with a 3.7 and and Alpha One. Has been a good boat for the 3 years I've had it. I'm gonna give it try, but now I'll monitor it. I checked the gear oil and it was fine. I checked it for milky color and it was clean and green (sorta blue-ish green actually). I topped it back off and sealed it up. I'll probably head out to the lake either tonight or tomorrow.
