Hello, I have a 91 bayliner trophy. My steering actuator is a alpha 1 gen 1. I have the engine out for a rebuild. I want to upgrade the alpha 1 gen 1 to the alpha 1 gen 2 with the quick disconnect steering actuator. I'm wondering if the gen 2 has the same bolt pattern for replacement. I do know I need the upgraded hydraulic hoses. Will these hoses fit the original hydrolic pump or will I need to upgrade the pump. The engine is 5.7 gm 350. Thank you for your knowledge
Ryan.

Agree with Bondo, don't need to upgrade to the quick attach fittings, threaded works fine. They were added to make it faster for dealers with little to no leak.

Correct me if I'm wrong Bondo, But the Gen 2 steering actuator should bolt right up. I think the transom plate is basically the same

The boat is getting a new rebuilt motor. That's why it's out. The steering actuator is bad and needed to be replaced. They do not make the alpha 1 gen 1 actuator anymore. I do not want to put a used part in as it's a really hard part for me to get to. I would like to put in the upgrade which would be the alpha 1 gen 2. Just not sure if its plug and play. Get it. Thank you

I bought one with the quick fittings but din't use them because I didn't want to buy them for the lines coming from the PS pump. Just removed and installed direct with cheap brass fittings

Ok great option to know. Was yours a alpha 1 gen 1 by chance? I'm also trying to figure out if the gen 2 will drop in place of the gen 1 actuator? I guess worst case I buy it and if it doesn't work I send I back. It's around a 1000$ so I wanted to get it right the 1st time. Thanks for the help.

Mine was a Bravo and I know they are all the same. Was hoping others would say if Alphas are the same, I think they are

So I have the same question but for a different reason. I’m adding an autopilot and the octopus does not work with the Alpha 1 Gen 1, only the Gen 2 and later.
I have twin sterns drives so the starboard steering cylinder also has the tie bar to the port steering lever.
