Alpha 1 Gen 2 Oil Capacity? Going Crazy?

Going crazy and need some reassurance. I just drained and refilled my Merc. gen 2 outdrive. I filled through the bottom until oil came out the top vent and then topped off the reservior that drained to the low level and it only took one quart.
One quart? Is this right. I only do this once a year and began to second guess myself. I then removed the vent screw again and every time I pumped in the drain screw, oil came flowing out the vent. Is this correct that it only took one quart? Looking for a sanity check/

Ayuh,... I fill Gen.IIs from the bottom, til it runs from the vent, then reinstall the ventplug, 'n continue pumping til the bottle is full...

It should take about a Qt., 'n 1/2...

The manual suggests you drain the reservoir as well.

I believe the amount with the reservoir is 1.89 litres, give or take.

Bond-o stated the best way to do it.

Usually they take a little over one & 1/2 qt. not including the reservoir.

26 pumps on our fill pump with 20 pumps = 1 qt.

so 1.86 qts. is about right.

What kind of fill pump do you guys use?
