Alpha 1 gen 2 shift does intensity of ratcheting matter

After install and adjustment of new lower shift cable:
Forward: Locks CCW, ratchets CW
Neutral: Spins freely both directions
Reverse: Locks CW, ratchets CCW
HOWEVER, it ratchets more intensely (harder more firm ratchet) CCW when in reverse than CW when in forward. Is this a problem? Or as long as it's locking both directions I'm fine? Is there a way to adjust to even out the ratcheting or is it even necessary?

Yes, a problem. You missed something.
But you did real good checking like this.
That's how a seasoned tech checks their work.
Should ratchet harder when in forward. About twice as much. No clicking in neutral.
Good information in Section 1C - Troubleshooting, Shift System, Section 2A - Remote Control Shift Cable Adjustment and Section 4A - Alpha Intermediate Shift Cable. Read all 3 and become a master of the intermediate transom cable.
