alpha 1 gen 2 upper unit

serial #od574021 i took the old drive shaft seal out of the case and my new kit came with 2 of the same seals, seloc manual shows 2 seals do both these seals go in? it had the spring facing downward, is this correct ? i also have a bigger seal that looks like it might go on the driven gear shaft but again mine doesn't have one there at all i want to make sure these seals are in correct before i reassemble it any help will be greatly appreciated !

thank you ! i still have a seal that's a little bit bigger then the 2 bottom seals and the exploded view doesn't show where it goes. i wonder if this kit is like a generic kit and that seal isn't used.

What's the part number of the kit? Maybe I can have a look at it and see...

post a pic of the drive. Alpha uses 2 different size seals, Alpha GEN II uses 2 of the same size seals.

Serial number of the drive is in the top of the first post... and it is a gen II....

I suspect it's a non-genuine kit, and sierra/glm/mallory/some chinese mob have made a generic kit for both drive... :facepalm:

Sierra kits are specific and work well.
FYI, the original double lip carrier seal merc used for years behind the U jooints 483320VGO is still available under National .seal is now 712250

That looks like a generic for the 2 different drive shaft housings. The seal that's slightly larger than the 2 smaller ones is only used on the MC-1, R, Mr and Alpha One housings.

Discard it for your housing.

cool, thanks so much. i was scratching my head over that seal, but the 2 seals that are the same do go in together ? wonder why mine only had 1 seal in it. well hopefully i will get it put back together tonight and pressure tested, THANKS AGAIN
