I recently changed impeller and after reassembling and using boat for the first time I noticed that gear lube was leaking. It appears that it is leaking out of the seal where the lower unit drops from the outdrive. I checked all of the bolts and everything is snug could it be that they just didnt seal all the way after being apart? would a little gasket sealer or something help? or is there maybe some other reason for the leaking?

Did you replace the little o ring between the upper and lower?

You put on a new quad ring between the upper & lower, where the oil passage is?......
Is it possible it slid out of place while mating?....
Generally there is no need for sealer there, there should be enough compression between the mating surfaces to provide a good seal.....
You will need to lower the bottom end & look....
I would try to do it just enough to see if it is misaligned...
You will need to drain the lube of course.........;)

thanks for the diagram, pics are worth a thousand words that is exactly where the lube is coming from I guess that was missing when it went back together. Time to drain fluid and drop it out and run and grab an o-ring I guess, thanks to all!
