Have an '86 Crestliner with a Merc alpha 1 outdrive. Was running at cruise when everything just stopped! Checked prop, no problem. Shifted gears a time or two and then restarted the engine. Got back to dock at idle and had the same thing happen enroute. After some sleep and thought, I think that the outdrive shifted into reverse when I was running. At dock, engine would hardly turn over with starter and outdrive would walk to one side, turning the steering wheel rapidly. I suspect it was stuck in gear. Any thoughts from the experts?
