I'd like to install something a little more substantial than the original plastic tube if possible. Mercruiser part # 32-41672A01

Ok I have to ask. Why? If you are having cooling issues just solve the real problem.

I think he is referring to the tube that connects from the hose from the bellhousing and into the transom.

It comes in 2 types , they used to be copper and were changed to plastic.
ziggy, the plastic water tube that goes thru the transom

No cooling issues. but the tube is slightly distorted, seems to be a little frail for what it does and where its located. A stainless replacement would be ideal.

If you have the plastic type look for a copper one. Those were the only types made.

The 5/8 copper tubes it says were for older pre-alpha and are no longer available being superceded by the 3/4 NYLON tube in Alpha Ones.

I would rather have the nylon, no green or corrosion to start a leak. Not sure why you think it's not substantial. If you have a newer home or underground irrigation it's probably plumbed with poly, pex or peb and delivered by PVC with no metal at all.
