Re: Alpha 1 Raw water feed line came off

good catch! i just got my boat a little over a month ago and the buzzer saved my *** when i was testing the engine with the ear muffs. i was busy inspecting belts and pulleys and such when the buzzer sounded. i didn't know what or why but it kept buzzing so i shut the motor off. when i gathered my thoughts, i checked the gauges and saw the temp creeping past 190 degrees. i let it cool over night and tried to run it the next day. it was good for a while then the temp started to creep up again.

i personally would go out of my way to get the audible alarm working as it has already saved me trouble within the first month of ownership.

i promptly got an iboats membership and started searching. that led me to a raw water pump rebuild. when i was rebuilding it i found someone had installed the gaskets wrong. after my rebuild i ran the motor again with great success, no overheating.

For sure the alarm is a good idea. I'll have to install one over the winter. The boat is still a work in progress, but hopefully it will be a good 1st boat. The exhaust shutters were pretty toasty and both exhaust tubes were a little tough. Tomorrow I install the new parts and hopefully I still have a smooth running engine that is ready for this weekend.
