Re: Alpha 1 Shift shaft direction

so have you solved the original problem with the shift shaft rotation??

as stated in previous posts, standing at the front of the drive looking aft - the shift shaft should rotate clockwise no more than the 6 o'clock position and counterclockwise to the 4 o'clock position

its holds true for standard and counter rotation alpha drives - the forward and reverse positions are opposite for standard/counter rotation drives

with the drive completely assembled, you should be able to turn the splined u-joint shaft clockwise while manually shifting the drive at the shift shaft and see the propshaft turn accordingly - use a rag on the splines and some muscle, it should turn

if it doesn't turn, there is an issue with the internal components

Well now I'm totally confused. I did exactly as described and everything turned accordingly.

Ok Ive heard a lot about noises from the Gimbal bearing, but if I can't turn my gimbal bearing and its seized , could that be the weak link as to why things are locked up when the sterndrives on?

If the engine will turn over with the outdrive off, it sure seems like that would be the logical conclusion.;)
